Abby answers questions from fans

Q: What do you eat for breakfast before a game?

Abby Wambach: I usually have a smoothie for breakfast every day. Same goes for game days. I do like to feel light for games, so on game day I eat enough to get some good energy, but stay away from really heavy foods.

Q:what is your favorite color ?

AW: Red

Q: I’ve seen on youtube that you and the girls on the wnt are quite goof-balls sometimes, so who do you think you’ll have the most fun with on the W.Freedom?

AW: Lori Lindsey has a fun personality, so I can count on her to always make me laugh. We’ve known each other for years, so it’s been fun catching up with her and meeting new people!!

Q: Is everyone tall or are there women that are like 5’2” or 5’3”? I plan to stick with soccer as far as it takes me but I’m afraid I’m not going to be very tall.

AW: Not all soccer players are tall like me. In fact, I’m sitting next to a teammate that’s 5’4”. It’s not how big you are but how big you play!!!

Q: How did you stay on track when you broke your leg? My leg is in a cast right now and I don’t know what to do.

AW: I dedicated myself to rehab. When I first broke my leg I couldn’t do much, but what I could do, I did a lot of. Stay positive and before you know it, you’ll be back on the field!!

Q: Abby how many pair of cleats do you go thorugh in a year

AW: A lot!! I like my cleats to fit nice and tight, so that forces me to order new ones every few weeks or so.

Hey Abby,

First off just wanted to say what an inspiration you are! I was wondering though, how you prepared yourself mentally for coming back from breaking your leg? I know fans of the team were devistated when that happened, i was staring at my TV for like half an hour just thinking, “Did that really happen?!” but now that your back, what did you do to prepare yourself mentally for the new league, and rejoining the national team again? P.S- i love the fact that you don’t get upset during games, if you missed a chance, or if you are double teamed you still manage to smile! One of the many reasons im such a huge fan! You ROCK!
