Abby returns to the field

Yesterday officially marked Abby’s return to the field as the Women’s National Team conducted its first traning session of 2009. The US Women are in camp at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Ca. for a 17 day training session. At the end of the session head coach Pia Sundhage will choose a roster of 18 to compete in the 2009 Algarve Cup in Portugal.

Abby also took the morning to watch the inauguration of President Barack Obama.

“When I woke up this morning and saw not just the festivities, but the amazing amount of people that were there, you wouldn’t be human if you couldn’t feel how powerful a moment it was and how far we have come,” Abby said yesterday. “The speech was amazing and the whole day has been amazing. Just being a woman and having to fight for those rights for however long, I can’t imagine how he must have felt and I’m proud to be an American today.”

Yes, I’m interested in updates!
