Abby Wambach to return for WNY Flash home opener

The Western New York Flash won’t have suspended midfielder Carli Lloyd for Saturday’s home opener, but fellow United States national team star Abby Wambach will be back in the lineup against the Portland (Ore.) Thorns after missing the first two matches this season.

Flash coach Aaran Lines said late Monday night that Wambach, 33, has been cleared to play following an injury below her left eye.
